Nespresso & Sandton Nightout

Updated: May 22, 2021

The invite to the Nespresso event boasted a night of ‘unique discovery of the new Master Origin range’ and what a truly unique experience it was.

Set at – what I’d call arty and chic – Katy’s Palace Bar, the Nespresso worldly origins mood hit you as soon as you walked in and the excited crowd contributed to the warm vibe. The added treat to the ‘series of added treats’ as we’d learn as the night unfolded, was the different Master Origins stations offering the five coffee flavours from the new range – Nespresso Master Origin Nicaragua, Nespresso Master Origin Colombia, Nespresso Master Origin India, Nespresso Master Origin Ethiopia and Nespresso Master OriginIndonesia – and it’s always refreshing to receive a smile with your latte or cappuccino.

The snacks were circulating, the tasty drinks were flowing and the screens were taking the viewer around the world to the lands that inspired the Master Origin range while the coffee flavour in your mouth made the connection.

The master craftsman of the evening, J’Something, who later proved to be a jack of many trades and the master of them all; took the coffee flavours a step further by demonstrating his five recipes inspired by each flavour from the range creating Coffee G&T, The J Martini, Citrus Egg Coffee, Spicy Indian Latte and a personal favourite – Sangria da Fonseca.

Nothing could have prepared us for J’Something transforming from Boss suit clad coffee master craftsman and delightful host to J’Something the musician and stand-up comedian in the blink of an eye, as he performed alongside Dr. Duda and Mo-T.

They took the dancing and appreciative crowd of individuals from different origins through a journey of the beautiful and original Micasa music we all know them for and dare I say made them imagine dear George Clooney serenading us like J’Something (those who attended would know). A source on stage also hinted a spur of the moment hit from Micasa called Dit Was Duidelik is set to burn the Kaapstad streets this December in bigger proportions than These Streets. Micasa and their band truly gave us a music experience to remember!

Flavourful coffee and cuisine. Arty cultural tones. Coffee lovers’ camaraderie. A great brand. Good music. All I can say is Nespresso knows how to give people a good time just like how they know how to give one a good cup of coffee from places one has never been to.

P.S. Thank you to Nespresso for the goodie bag and memories!
